State of mind

Yesterday's psychiatry lecture has awakened an emotional state which I haven't felt for years: It's hard to describe, it's kind of like that there's your destiny and that it's good. I recall that state from school, where it was clear that I was a good student, would remain such until graduating, and then I'd study at university. It's like identifying with what society expects you to do. I haven't had that for a long time since I never felt like a future doctor or so. But psychiatry is a subject that interests me and I could imagine becoming and working as a psychiatrist at least for some time. Now I suddenly felt the teacher speak to me about things that interest me because they will concern my future. And I realized how close I'm already to completing my studies! It's not really that much any more until the doctorate degree. With that degree, I'd have managed the most noble aim of "educated citizens", the highest academic degre

A dream!

I had a dream: I invented a new video game during this dream. And at the end of my dream, the background story appeared in my head, which will be displayed in the intro: "For thousands of years, Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu have been fighting for the rule of the world. So say the Zoroastrians. If Ahura Mazda wins, there will be eternal life for everybody. In order to make Ahura Mazda win, Dr. Claus D. Volko has revived Sigmund Freud, the explorer of the unconscious, to fight the dark creatures of unconsciousness." The title of the game: "Sigmund Freud and The Power of the Unconscious". The game (as I dreamt it) is a mix of beat-'em-up and jump'n'run. Combat scenes and platform scenes alternate. I dreamt the protagonist changing shapes many times, and I saw virtually all sorts of knight-like sprites which I remembered from video games (Castle of Illusion, Wizards and Warriors etc.). The fact that an interesting game concept has been born in a dream of min

Borat

Yesterday I watched Borat the movie. It's good, but I still think that Afghanistan is superior to Kazakhstan.

Saxony

I've read Wikipedia pages about Saxony. It seems to be a nice landscape with great cities. Some of the photos of Zwickau and Leipzig at Wikipedia are amazing, check them out - I doubt you'll regret it.

New diskmag

A new Polish diskmag has been released. It uses the same engine as Hugi (Panorama). TAC 09h: http://woodmann.com/bart/download.php?id=tac09h.zip (26,5 MB)

Diskussion Nr. 328

Some people have already received the first issue of "Diskussion" which was edited by me. I had already finished the magazine in the first October week, but as the magazine was so large this time, it took the printing company quite long... (I shall visit them one day, it would be interesting to see what equipment they have; I guess it's a rather small one. But it offers Mensa Austria good conditions, and that's what counts.) The print-run is less than half the number of people who regularly download an issue of Hugi... so it's a nice mag, a nice additional platform to publish articles in, but Hugi is still far more effective in reaching a fair number of people. *eyes burning, gotta shut off my computer*

Blog link collection

ps has collected links to blogs from people related to the demoscene. They can be found at: http://del.icio.us/psenough/blog%2Bdemoscene How many familiar names have blogs which I haven't noticed (and I'm not unhappy about it, as most of what people write in their weblogs is not as interesting for strangers as for themselves).

KnightFight

I've been invited to a new (free) online RPG, which is called KnightFight. If you want to join, simply click http://www.knightfight.de/?ac=vid&vid=61020900 . Attention: The game is in German language. It was made by the producers of BananenKoenig. The gameplay seems to be a bit more complex (... hopefully).
